Purpose（目的）
The purpose of our activities is to pass on the Sugiyama Style techniques, which are said to have been taught to students at the Acupuncture Treatment School founded by Waichi Sugiyama approximately 400 years ago, to succeeding acupuncture, moxibustion, and Anma therapists at Sugiyama Acupuncture and Anma Clinic. Specifically, we hold academic seminars six times a year, inviting prominent researchers and experienced clinicians based on the classics of traditional acupuncture and moxibustion medicine as lecturers, with a focus on Sugiyama Style acupuncture techniques. The courses that are mainly taken up in the academic seminars at the Sugiyama Waichi Memorial Hall are implemented with priority given to the transmission of traditional Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion, which is consistently rooted in the classics rather than modern medical acupuncture and moxibustion treatment, and this is the goal of the seminars. However, we are also planning special workshops that meet the needs of the modern age, with an eye toward modern acupuncture and moxibustion, beauty acupuncture and moxibustion, and so on.

We are confident that the academic seminar of Waichi Sugiyama Memorial Association is the only academic seminar in the Japanese art of acupuncture and moxibustion where Sugiyama Style acupuncture, founded 400 years ago by Waichi Sugiyama, is handed down from hand to hand. We hope that you will attend our academic seminar and learn the art of acupuncture and moxibustion, whose essence is to “circulate Ki and move the blood”, and that we will nurture future generations and send out as many clinicians as possible.
